Curriculum Statement

At Hayes Meadow Primary School we aim to provide a curriculum, which is broad, well balanced and above all stimulates and excites the children.

 

Through a positive and caring environment, pupils are inspired to ‘Be the Best That They Can Be’ and are empowered to reach beyond their goals, preparing them for life beyond school.

Our curriculum is a topic based approach to learning and links with the Focus Education ‘Learning Challenge’ curriculum and covering the new National Curriculum skills. Every topic is introduced through a stimulus which ensures pupils are ‘hooked’ into their new learning.  Pupils develop ideas in a variety of subjects and are provided with opportunities to apply basic Maths and English across the curriculum.

Learning takes place beyond the classroom at Hayes Meadow.  We provide each year group with the opportunity to enjoy a range of learning opportunities in our outdoor areas in Early Years and in our Forest School area.  Teachers carefully plan to incorporate enrichment activities each term such as visits out of school and visitors into school.

When children leave Hayes Meadow Primary School at the end of Year 6, they will be equipped with a variety of skills and the curiosity that will enable them to become lifelong learners. Pupils are encouraged to think creatively and critically; to respect others; the environments in which they live, equipping them with the social skills and understanding to become good citizens in the future.
